Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Quick Pancakes

The Story

As Swiss Miss transitioned from a localized dairy product to a national pantry staple in the 1970s, the brand began printing versatile uses for their envelopes on the back of the box. This recipe became a favorite for families looking to easily upgrade standard pancake mix into chocolate pancakes without using cocoa powder and sugar separately.

From the back of Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix — since 1972

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pancake mix
  • 3 envelopes Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

    Preheat griddle to 375°F (medium-high heat); grease lightly.

    In a medium bowl, combine pancake mix and dry hot cocoa mix.

    Add water, egg, and oil; stir until large lumps disappear.

  4. 4

    Pour about 1/4 cup batter for each pancake onto the hot griddle.

    Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look dry.

    Turn and cook until golden brown on the other side.
