Old-Fashioned Glazed Sour Cream Cake Donuts

The Story

General Mills introduced this recipe to show the versatility of their baking mix beyond pancakes. It became a staple on the side of the box in the late 1950s and 60s, promising a non-greasy, tender crumb that mimicked professional bakery textures. The recipe demonstrated how simple additions like nutmeg and sour cream could elevate a basic mix into a specialized pastry.
