The Story
Originally printed on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jar in the mid-1960s, this recipe revolutionized home candy-making by using marshmallow creme to prevent crystallization. It gained further fame as 'Fantasy Fudge' when a similar version appeared on the back of Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme jars, becoming a staple of American holiday tradition.
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 jar (7.5 oz) Marshmallow Fluff
- 1 package (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk in a heavy saucepan.

Bring to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Continue boiling for 5 minutes over medium heat, or until a candy thermometer reaches 234°F, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.

Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted.

Add Marshmallow Fluff, walnuts, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth and well blended.
