Classic Toll House Marble Squares

The Story

Introduced in the mid-1960s as a time-saving alternative to individual cookies, these bars became a staple on the back of the yellow chocolate chip bags. The recipe leveraged the popularity of the 'swirl' or 'marble' aesthetic which was trending in American mid-century baking. It remains one of the most requested variations of the original Toll House recipe.
